On this 5-day Quad ATV tour from Merzouga, we will explore the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes. Riding through these majestic sand dunes offers a spectacular view of Morocco’s desert landscape. Our journey continues through the dunes to reach Sidi Ali Tafraout, and then to Ouazina, where we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the shade of the trees. Activity Description
Itinerary, 5-Day Quad ATV From Merzouga :
Day 1 : Merzouga to Ouzina.
- Today’s trip: The historic route of the Paris-Dakar Rally to the Ouzina Desert. We will pass through the sand dunes of Erg Zenigui and Jebel Bagaa, and stop for lunch with a local family. In the evening, we will camp in a wild camp in Erg El ouzina, and sleep under the stars in the heart of the desert.
- Continuing towards Ouzina, we will learn about the unique lifestyle of the local people, witness their communal oven and their wonderful gardening practices. We will meet a Bedouin nomadic family living in the desert, share tea and lunch with them and gain an insight into their unique culture and way of life.
- We recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise in this exceptional place before enjoying a delicious breakfast.
Day 2 : Ouzina to Sidi Ali Tafraout.
- Today’s route takes us from Ouzina to Tafraout Sidi Ali, passing through the Erg Ouzina dunes. We will visit the Bedouins and share lunch with them explore the sand dunes of Tabkhout, and see the Tajine-shaped mountain in the Tabkhout Oasis. We’ll trek through the Jorge de Guigal and sand dunes, stopping for Explore village. we will cross the sandy and dusty Oued ghris River for 4 kilometers until we reach Tafraout.
This leg of the journey showcases the essence of the Moroccan Sahara, where the silence and landscape tell ancient stories.
Day 3 : Tafraout Sidi Ali to Jdaid village.
- After breakfast, we will explore Jorge de M’harch and Tizi Nuedo, and visit the Portuguese village of Bahlo. We will have a picnic lunch in the Borica oasis and see the labyrinthine mines of Tijakht. We continue through the Tajine-like Montenegro near Afrdo and end the day at our hotel.
Day 4 : Jdaid village, return to Merzouga.
- We will travel from Jdaid to Merzouga, cross the small sand dunes of Douif and visit the natural fresh water well of Madras. We will see the Gnaoua village, enjoy their traditional music and have lunch with them with Berber pizza. After exploring the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, we will return to our hotel in the Sahara Desert.
Day 5 : Explore Tafilalte, return to Desert.
- Here, Berber, Arab, and Tuareg traders converge to sell everything from spices and textiles to pottery and livestock, creating a lively atmosphere that showcases centuries of cultural exchange and commerce. Stroll through the labyrinth of stalls where bargaining is an art form, and immerse yourself in the vibrant sights and sounds of this bustling market. You’ll hear traditional music, smell freshly baked bread, and see skilled artisans crafting intricate items before your eyes. After lunch in the medina, return to the desert for a camel ride across the golden sands. Spend the night in a luxury camp in the heart of the Erg Chebbi desert.
